Sous Chef – Quality Hotel & Events Operation
Surrey | Up to £41,000 Package | 40-45 Hours | Excellent Work-Life Balance
A fantastic opportunity for a Sous Chef to join a genuinely interesting, quality-led hospitality operation in a beautiful Surrey setting.
What’s on Offer
- Package up to £41,000 inclusive of service/tips
- 40-45 hour contract
- Genuine focus on work-life balance
- Fresh, seasonal and produce-led cooking
- Varied operation – restaurant, hotel, weddings and events
- Supportive and experienced senior kitchen team
- Opportunity to have input into menus and food development
- Stable, established independent business
- Excellent working environment
This is far from a standard hotel kitchen. The business is diverse and multi-faceted, with the food operation covering everything from the main restaurant and casual dining through to weddings, private events and functions.
For a Sous Chef who enjoys variety, it’s a great kitchen to be part of. You’ll work with fresh, seasonal produce, alongside an experienced senior team who genuinely care about the food they’re putting on the plate.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the senior kitchen team to help lead the day-to-day operation.
You’ll be hands-on during service, but this isn’t simply about standing on a section. You’ll be involved across team development, kitchen organisation, standards, stock and ordering, functions and menu delivery.
With several different elements to the business, no two weeks are exactly the same. One service might be focused around the restaurant, while another could involve a large wedding or private event.
We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll already be working as a Sous Chef, although a very strong Junior Sous ready for greater responsibility would also be considered.
Experience within a quality hotel, fresh-food restaurant, gastro pub or events-led operation would translate particularly well.
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Loves cooking with fresh ingredients
- Can confidently lead and motivate a kitchen team
- Is organised and calm during busy services
- Understands stock, wastage and kitchen controls
- Enjoys developing junior chefs
- Can maintain standards across different styles of service
- Wants a role offering both quality food and a sensible work-life balance
This is an excellent opportunity for a Sous Chef who wants more variety than a conventional restaurant role without sacrificing the quality of the food.
