Let’s face it, we’re in business to make money. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Is there truth in the saying ‘money is the root of all evil’.

For me, money is the reward of doing a good job and not the primary focus. Call it a benchmark if you will. I had a bit of a ‘cool’ moment when in a brainstorming meeting with some of my senior Team yesterday at Black Sheep in Waterloo which the picture sums up!

It was a high energy focus meeting with a positive input from all involved doing what we do and loving it. Hopefully our ideas are good and the growth and development of all involved in the Appetite development plan will allow everyone to do a great job and get the financial reward as a result.

On a very different thought process but as I think of it.

Having been at the Casual Dining Show yesterday I loved catching up with a couple of industry friends, Matt Ingram and Claire Dixon, both successful operators in their own rights and although disappointed not to have been able to make the awards too, I’m delighted to see Brewhouse and Kitchen scooped Best Multi-Site Pub Operator and to Hashe, congratulations on winning The Menu Innovation Award. I’m sure it was a great night!

Out with the old and in with the new with the exception of strong Brands. Great talk Susan Chappell.
